411mania Interviews Maria

411mania.com caught up with Maria recently to talk about Celebrity Apprentice, her WWE release and Sevin Sins.

Maria Kanellis responded to an ad for a diva search on USA’s Monday Night Raw in 2004 and her life hasn’t been the same since. Even though she didn’t win she turned that contest into a wildly successful career with the WWE, with the height of her popularity coming in 2008 when she was on the cover of Playboy Magazine and Maxim Magazine had her in their list of the 100 Sexiest Women. She’s also done episodes of Family Feud, Project Runway, Sunset Tan, and Attack of the Show. This Sunday she begins a stint on NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice where she is competing on behalf of the Make A Wish Foundation.

Donald Trump is happy to have Maria on Celebrity Apprentice

Donald Trump doesn’t just let anyone join the cast of Celebrity Apprentice.  Here’s what he had to say about choosing cast members in a recent interview with Digital Spy:

How did you choose the cast?

“It’s interesting because so many people want to be on the show. After the first season success and then the Joan Rivers success, celebrities just want to be on the show. I would say probably six or seven people per spot were turned down. We wanted athletes, actors, models, wrestlers… We have a beautiful wrestler and a big wrestler, Goldberg and Maria. Maria is a beautiful woman who’s a wrestler with the WWE.”

Celebrity Apprentice premieres this Sunday, March 14th at 9pm EST on NBC.  Check out a clip of a Celebrity Apprentice press conference below:

About.com interviews Maria

About.com caught up with Maria recently to talk about Celebrity Apprentice, her WWE release, new website, and Sevin Sins.

While March 8, 2010 will be remembered by most wrestling fans as being the night of the start of a new Monday Night War, I will remember it most for having the opportunity to speak to Maria Kanellis, the 2009 Diva of the Year.It has been a crazy few weeks in her career as just a few days before appearing on Celebrity Apprentice, she was released from her WWE contract. The good news for her fans is that she appears to be in great spirits.

One of the pitfalls about reading an interview as opposed to hearing it is that you sometimes don’t get a feel for the mood someone is in. I can tell you that she was laughing and giggling at points of most of her answers. I would like to take credit for this and say that she was amused by my sense of humor, but the truth is that she has an incredible sense of humor and personality that hopefully will make it to print in this interview.

Chicago Sun-Times interviews Maria about meeting Rod Blagojevich

The Chicago Sun-Times caught up with the cast of Celebrity Apprentice to find out what they thought of former governor Rod Blagojevich.  Here’s what Maria had to say:

He impressed contestant Maria Kanellis, a gorgeous WWE wrestler from Ottawa, Ill., who was raising money for the Make a Wish Foundation.“The first day I met the governor, oh my goodness, I was like, ‘This was the governor of my home state!’ I couldn’t wait to tell my dad.”

Kanellis didn’t actually vote for him, but she can confirm that the governor is a politician at all times. “I’d be like, c’mon, just be normal, get angry!” she said. But Blagojevich stayed on message, on camera and off. “I wanted to get him drunk or something,” says Kanellis, whose EP “Sevin Sins” comes out April 13. And oh yeah, there was one other thing about the governor: “He didn’t know how to text message.”

As you can imagine, there was one popular topic of conversation on “Celebrity Apprentice.” “They compared hair a lot,” Kanellis says. “Between Trump and the governor, and Sharon Osbourne and Cyndi Lauper and Bret Michaels, hair was hard to ignore.”

The Celebrity Apprentice will air Sunday, March 14th on NBC.
